JagTheatre is Making Waves with the fall play, "Metamorphoses"
By Delainey Traylor
King Midas, who turned everything he touched into solid gold, even what he loved most. Eros and Psyche, whose blind love sparked trials by Love herself. Orpheus and Eurydice, whose story is one of love and loss, again and again.

All of these Greek myths give us insight on the human world, and all of these myths will be showcased in Carrboro High School’s upcoming fall play, Scenes from Metamorphoses. This play, by Mary Zimmerman, conveys these myths and more in an interesting way: written in vignette style and centered around a pool of water. The set features a large circular pool at center stage, surrounded by a wooden deck and walls with shadow boxes. Up above, there are clouds and a chandelier hanging to shine some light from the heavens. The cast and crew have poured so much heart and soul into the production. But don’t take it from me….
“On top of having lots of funny moments, Metamorphoses reminds us that there’s still so much to learn from mythology. In the words of a certain therapist, “Myths are the earliest forms of science,” and this play gives insight into the lessons that have been kept alive for thousands of years.” – Theodore Kaye (Silenus, Sailor, Hermes)
“Scenes from Metamorphoses is worth seeing because it’s so magical to see these students come together and put on a production. So much work has been put into this play and it’s just awesome to be a part of it by experiencing the finished product.” – Luna Nicholson (Stage Manager)
“My favorite part of this production is the amazing community; the cast, crew, and everyone who is helping is putting in so much work to make this play come alive.” – Ilaria Bayley (Midas’s daughter, Narrator, A)
“JagTheatre is so excited to produce Scenes from Metamorphoses this fall. It is a show that has been on our show list for awhile now, and it’s an ensemble show that requires a certain level of willingness, creativity, and adaptability. We hope our community will join us for this updated take on some classic tales.” – Brett Stegall (Director)
