The 2nd Friday Art Walk in Carrboro and Chapel Hill is this Friday, April 10. Many participating galleries host free public receptions with snacks and opportunities to meet the artists between 6pm and 9pm. The Carrborean free monthly print edition devotes its center pages, called Gallery Place, to the monthly shows in Carrboro. Featured artist Davis M. Lensch is a painter, collage creator, and illustrator using acrylic, pencil, pen, marker, and found imagery from old books and magazines. Rooted in Chapel Hill, his art channels nature through themes of abstract technique and a touch of ethereal surrealism. Lensch blends organic forms with visceral, spontaneous mark-making. Each piece reflects self-expression and an emotional response to current events, offering an unusual glimpse into the artist’s inner world.

The Beehive Salon, 102 East Weaver Street

“My paintings explore the intersection of intuition and structure through layered abstraction, vibrant color, and symbolic form. I use recurring motifs—topographic forms, organic shapes, and geometric patterns—to evoke transformation and emotional resonance. Astronauts appear as metaphors for exploration and isolation, drifting through dreamlike environments that blur the line between the familiar and the unknown.”--John Harrison
