I hope you found your copy of the first free monthly print edition of The Carrborean, available at many locations around town. Let me know what you think and what you'd like to see in future hyperlocal reporting (info@thecarrborean.com).
This week online, you'll find articles about Karen Day's paintings at Frank Gallery and a Q&A with Cristóbal Palmer, candidate for Carrboro Town Council. Please share the issues you want candidates to consider in this 3 min anonymous survey. Results will be published in the October print edition of The Carrborean.
Have you been wondering about the parking situation at the Carrboro Post Office? For a couple of months, parking there has been...challenging. As in, there is no place to park. And many cars are parked along the driveways entering the actual parking lot making maneuvering difficult in that space. When I asked post office staff about the situation, they handed me this note.

So there you have it. And don't park in the nearly empty lot behind the post office– it's not for public use and your car could be towed.
Exciting news! The town of Carrboro is updating its Safe Routes to School Strategic Action Plan and they want to hear your ideas and experiences. Although we can sometimes hear the football games, families in my neighborhood cannot safely walk to Carrboro High so we're hoping the new plan can help us with a safe route.
The Carrborean's first crossword puzzle debuted in the print edition. Too easy? Too hard? Let me know (info@thecarrborean.com). You can find the solution here along with our featured advertisers this month.
The Carrboro Restaurant Directory appeared in The Carrborean's first print issue and is now online, too. Check out your local dining options.
We are getting ready for the next print edition in October and we'd love to feature your Halloween plans. What will your neighborhood get up to? Contact us at info@thecarrborean.com.
The Carrborean is building a model of community journalism--meaning, most articles, stories, and features will come from community members rather than from a centralized newsroom. To start those conversations, we're hosting community journalism and storytelling workshops in early October. If you're interested in participating, fill out this form.
Analytics update: The Carrborean is growing! In the past month, we've averaged about 50 visits to the website per day.
