Gourmet Kingdom mural, 301 E Main St.

Sending this weekly update a little early so that you can prepare to deposit your electronics and small appliances at the recycling event at Carrboro Plaza tomorrow (Saturday) from 9 -11 am. Learn more about these events for "Anything With a Plug" in one of our featured stories this week.

Our other featured story introduces Marga de Bruijn's beautiful quilts on display at Muse Gallery. And this is the last week to see the Uproar art installations around town!

Community service note: Financial assistance is available for those affected by Tropical Storm Chantal. The Recovery Assistance Center at the Drakeford Building is operating through August 30.

It's election season! In Carrboro, three town council seats are opening and there are three candidates for them. Two candidates are running for mayor. The Carrborean will invite all candidates to have a conversation about their priorities for Carrboro and we'll share that info here in the coming weeks.

This brief survey is to find out what's important to you and what you want candidates for Carrboro to discuss in this election season and consider for their upcoming terms in office. Results will be published in the free monthly print edition of The Carrborean in October. The survey will close September 18.

The countdown is on...the first free monthly print edition of The Carrborean is coming the first week of September. I'll refer you to last week's update for more info about that.

Have a great weekend! Looking for something to do? Check out the Events Calendar.
