Flooding in Carrboro
Car abandoned by floodwater on bank of neighborhood pond.

Residents of Weatherhill Pointe surveyed the damage to their neighborhood following torrential rain Sunday and early Monday. Some homes had 3 feet of water on their first floor from overflowing Morgan Creek and the neighborhood pond. Flood waters receded early Monday and residents are now cleaning up. I've contacted the Home Owners' Association to find out what assistance residents need.

UPDATE (Tuesday, 9pm) You can drop off these items at the pavilion in Weatherhill Pointe: N95 masks and packaged snacks. They also need volunteers to help clean out houses. Bring gloves and a mask for yourself; wear long pants and old sneakers. Report to the pavilion when you arrive and you will be assigned to work with a family at their house.

Receding floodwater left this car behind on the bank of the pond.

Some residents of nearby Tennis Club Estates sustained minor damage. The Rosewalk neighborhood saw the creek rise but did not report damage. All three neighborhoods lost power which was restored around noon Monday. The Chapel Hill Tennis Club is closed today.
